Art is a constant pain, a struggle that persists, and yet a vital organ that if removed, would be the death of me.
Hi! My name is Indigo and I suffer from Bipolar. This means that I am in and out of the hospital on a monthly basis.
The medication is very expensive so it means a lot to me when you purchase a product here as it goes towards helping me clear my medical bills.
( so many bills... )
So far I have been receiving an overwhelmingly positive response here as well as on redbubble which I am so grateful for.
Thank you so much for supporting me, and even sharing my art with your family and friends.
You are literally saving my life.
If you would like to connect with me personally, you can check out my blog where I upload things about my daily life and my current health-related issues.
And as always, may your days be magical! Here is a little hug from me:
Ethnicity: Mixed African-Indian Decent / Sex: Non-Binary / Age: 28
My actual name is "Aida", however I have never felt comfortable with that name, so I've always gone by "Ai",
however to most people not actually writing "Ai", it can be understood as that I am talking about "I"
As in myself all the time. That's why I go by my Japanese translation of my name:
インジゴ / indigo / 藍 / Ai
Indigo is a name that is not easily lost in translation, and it is my favourite shade of blue.
Once I adopted the name, I felt that "Ko" as in "Child" / "こ" was perfect as I was born in the
era of the "Indigo Children", and what better way to represent myself as a mystical artist
who loves all magical fantastical things, but is also plagued with an eternal sadness.
And as most know, the "Child" within is a great source of inspiration. In order to truly
reach happiness, we must as adults, learn to "play" again. Learn to see the world in this
multi-faceted and exciting existence. That is where I like to live. In this world of fun and play,
and that is where a lot of my art and inspiration comes from as well.
So you can call me "Indigo" or "Ai" or "Ko-san" as my friend calls me
( which reminds her of Cosine as in The Law of Cosine which makes
me feel rather giddy talking about the wonders of mathematics again ),
just not Aida, because Aida is not a name that relates to who
I am today as an artist and as a person.
I am Indigo Ko.
